About

Hello! Welcome to my homepage. I am a singer and songwriter in the genre jazz/pop/latin/folk… I studied diploma Jazz Singing at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne, but the story starts earlier …

I was born in Madrid in 1981 and grew up in Valencia (Spain). As a child I learned classical violin, piano, music theory and choir singing at the Conservatorio Superior de Música „Joaquín Rodrigo“ in Valencia. I taught myself guitar, mainly while listening to all the beautiful songs I found along my childhood and teenage years (the Beatles are at the top of my list).

At the age of 14, I got my first job as a studio singer, at 15 I stopped classical lessons and wrote my first song. At 18, I founded my first band, parallel to the beginning of my studies at the College of Fine Arts in Valencia. At the age of 22, I emigrated to Germany with the goal of finding my own way.

Already in Germany I got to know the language and the culture. I allowed myself a time of self-discovery and financed my living with waitressing jobs in Freiburg and later in Berlin. At the same time, I often played my Spanish songs in bars and pubs, solo and with really great musicians, whose enthusiasm and dedication I am still totally grateful for. The response to my Spanish songs was mostly very positive, which somehow surprised me in the German-speaking area again and again. Therefore, I became e.g. 2006/07 finalist at the Troubadour Singer/Songwriter Competition in the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin.

From 2007 to 2014 I completed the Jazz Vocal diploma studies at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne, where I got the chance to learn and get inspired by GREAT musicians such as Anette von Eichel, Susanne Schneider, Sidsel Endresen, Norma Winstone, Jay Clayton, Florian Ross, Frank Reinshagen, Joachim Ulrich, Stephan Scheuss, Jono Podmore, Jörg Lennart, Frank Gratkowski and many more…

There I also met study and musician colleagues, who enriched my life and my music significantly. So in 2012 my first band album „Cartas que nunca envié“ (Letters I Never Sent) was released, a collection of 13 of my old songs, played and produced with my talented former band colleagues Felix Hoffmann (bass), Lukas Hoffmann (perc.), Jan Niemeyer (drums), Niko Schriefer (piano) and some other high quality guests. The sound is a crystal-clear pop with great attention to detail and represents the conclusion in terms of content and style of a year-long phase.

After a long break, I am now on stage with new repertoire and new musicians, embarking on new stylistic paths that are much more reminiscent of jazz and Spanish and Latin American traditions:

Norman Peplow (piano), Julian Bossert (clarinet, flute, sax), Jakob Kühnemann (double bass), Alfonso Garrido (perc.), Blanca Núñez (voice, guitar, comp. & lyrics) -> watch and listen
